Introducing Paris & Andy

Paris and Andy are both 24 and are currently 2 months into a 7 month trip traveling around America.

They’ve always loved the United States and had so many places on their bucket list that they wanted to visit. They decided to put both their careers on hold to take a trip of a lifetime to see them all. As they are from England, they are only allowed a 6 month tourist visa but wanted to extend their trip to 7 months so they could spend a few weeks in Canada, with a stop off in Iceland first.

Paris & Andy’s Travel Speak – Travelogue (Un-edited)

The first stop on our trip was Reykjavik in Iceland, a place that has thrived in tourism over the past few years, so we had heard a lot of great things before we left. We were super excited to go to the Blue Lagoon and can honestly say we weren’t disappointed. We highly recommend purchasing the budget package, sure the idea of a being given a free towel and dressing gown to use is luxury but the expense is just not worth it. Make sure you check out the free Silica facemask and if you’re visiting during the winter months use the inside entrance to the pool so you don’t freeze! We also went on an 8 hour Golden Circle tour around Iceland which was incredible and the perfect way to see the famous sights. We saw the Kerid Crater, a volcanic crater, Faxi Waterfall, the famous Gullfoss Waterfall, the exploding Geysir and to the Thingvellir National Park to see the ridge between the North American and European tectonic plates.

Our next stop was Montreal in Canada, one of the main reasons for including this place in our trip was so Andy could attend the famous Tristar Gym to train MMA. Montreal is a beautiful city and has stunning views from Mount Royal, we recommend going just before sunset so you can see the city by day and night! Saint Joseph’s Ortatory of Mount Royal also offers fantastic views of the city, has a beautiful garden and is Canada’s largest Church. If you’re looking to head to the more tourist part of Montreal, then Old Port is perfect, with its plaza at Place Jacques-Cartier and the Basicilla Notre Dame. Don’t forget to try the local delicacy – Poutine – it’s amazing!

From Montreal we took the train to Toronto, a much livelier city with its very own version of NYC’s Times Square called Youge-Dundas Square. We definitely recommend getting a CityPass as it is the cheapest and easiest way to see the main attractions in the city. We used ours to visit Casa Loma a Gothic Revival mansion, Ontario Science Centre, Ripley’s Aquarium, the Royal Ontario Museum and to go up the CN tower.

For an iconic photo opportunity head to Graffiti Alley and Nathan Phillips Square – you won’t be disappointed. Of course, the day trip from Toronto has to be Niagara Falls; we did an all day tour in which we got the see the Whirlpool, Niagara-On-The-Lake and a tour on the Hornblower boat cruise. There are two options to see the Falls and both are spectacular but we recommend taking the boat tour as the mist from the Falls can make it hard to see the Tower in certain weather conditions.
